LADIES FOOTBALL
02/10/2018
There was heartbreak for our U14s in the 'B' Championship County Final in Durrow on Saturday afternoon when we just came up short against a strong Rhode team. In a very tight opening half, our girls held their own and then as the half went on we started to play some very good football and kicked 4 excellent points to go 0-4 to 0-0 up. Rhode rallied late in the half and kicked the last three scores to leave it 0-4 to 0-3 at-half time. In the second half it was end-to-end football, and with 10 minutes left the game was in the balance at 1-7 each. However Rhode then got a crucial goal, when first a goal-bound effort was heroically blocked by Aimee Dunne, only for the ball to break to the Rhode corner-forward who then placed it right into the top corner of the net. Our girls battled hard to retrieve the situation, but ran out of time and were beaten on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-8.
Best of luck to our Junior Ladies, who face Shamrocks in the Junior County Final this weekend, details to follow.
