LADIES FOOTBALL   11/09/2018

St Manchan’s Ladies Minor team opened their Championship campaign with a fantastic victory against St Rynagh's on Monday in Tubber. Trailing by 1-5 to 0-1 in the first half and playing second-best, things were not looking good. However, three great points from Mary Harkin coming up to half-time helped to keep us in it, though we went in trailing by 1-07 to 0-4. The girls then came out for the second half a transformed team. The defence tightened up and all played brilliantly throughout the second half, conceding just a single point in the 30 minutes. We were also much improved further up the field, where Annie Heavin applied the finishing touches with a brilliant second-half hat-trick. Final score: St Manchan’s 3-08 St Rynagh’s 1-08.

Our U14s played a challenge game on Thursday against Naomh Molaoise in Tubber, in what was a very good run-out for both teams ahead of the knockouts. Our girls now play the Championship Semi-Final this Wednesday, when they take on Tullamore Ladies in Doon, with a throw-in time of 7.00pm.

Well done to St Manchan’s players Eva Donlon, Sheola Rosney, Hannah Madden and Caoimhe Lynam, who represented Offaly with distinction, performing brilliantly at the U12 Inter-County blitz on Saturday in Portlaoise.

Training for all ages U6-U14 continues on Saturdays at 10.00am. This week the venue is Ballycumber.
